People ask me if I know any one in my circle who have retired early (aka FIRE). Most people I know have no plans of FIRE. A few are planning to retire early and they are in different phases of their journey. I only know five who are currently not working full time. Some of them are not fully retired. They are just taking a break. Some are working part time for no income or a small salary just to keep themselves busy. Things might have changed since I last talked to them, so this information may not be accurate.


Of the five, two are retired and not working for anyone last I talked to them. The third one is taking a break in work and is unsure if he is really retired. He may go back to work at some point. The fourth one is currently working part time for a friend’s startup without any pay. Just to gain some experience. The fifth is working part time for a startup for a small salary to keep themselves busy and be in touch with the technology.
