While we finished our design for the pump house, I worked on several designs before handing over the final one to the contractor. I wanted to create some interesting designs and see which one we would like. I was putting so much time and effort on a building that was supposed to be temporary. But I enjoyed the work. It was fun and challenging at the same time. You probably want to skip this post if you don’t care about house designs. There is almost nothing to read except for a bunch of 3D renderings I created.

For reference, this is the final design (see picture below) that we gave to the contractor. All other 3D renderings are small design changes.

One change we wondered if it will make it look aesthetically pleasing was if the roof was one continuous block instead of splitting into 2 sections.

Another design we wanted to check was what it would look like if we have a longer roof in the backyard.

Then we wondered how it would look like if we went with Mangalore tiles design with more sloping roofs.

Another design change we wanted to test out was what if the backyard has a different roof than the rest of the house.

We even tried with a smaller roof in the backyard.

While we were discussing the costs with the contractor, we wondered if we can reduce costs by removing the front car parking all together and moving the backyard design to the front of the house.

After all the design iterations, we finally decided on the design that you saw at the top of the post. The cost difference between all the designs were not that much, so we settled with the design we liked the most and felt will be most practical.
